CINCO DE MAYO IN OLD TOWN

After having breakfast at Old Town Mexican Café  on May 5th with the Friday Morning Breakfast group Paul and I walked to the nearby Coyote Café to watch TV crews filming news coverage for the 35th annual  Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo festivities coming up for the weekend in historic Old Town.
The fiesta features stages with live entertainment that includes folklorico dancers with musicians,
cantina beer gardens, special foods at the local restaurants and a Lowrider Lane

Cinco de Mayo started when France wanted to expand its empire into Mexico.  Napolian III ordered troops to head toward Mexico City to overthrow President Benito Juarez.  On May 5 1862 the Mexican forces defeated the French in the Battle of Puebla.
Today it is a celebration of the Mexican American culture with eating Mexican food, imbibing and entertainment
